Technical Data for material Performance

uPVC Material:
Impact modified, UV Stabilised supreme quality - rigid PVC. 100% Australian made, especially formulated for the harsh Australian climatic zones, fully recyclable.

uPVC Tensile Strength:
550kg / sq cm at 23 degrees Celsius.

uPVC Thermal Expansion:

Degrees C in order of 45 x 10-6 over 55 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Celsius) temperature movement an uPVC post will have an expansion / contraction in the order of 2.5 mm per metre.


Fire Resistance:

Our uPVC guide posts have been tested for 2000 seconds (33 minutes),supported 60 mm below a 2000 watt red element. The product did not ignite, or show any trace of discolouration.

Flammability:
Our uPVC guide posts do not support combustion when the source of the flame is removed, the material will cease burning.extract the post. Hydro Carbon Resistance:
Our uPVC guide posts have been immersed totally in commercial grade petrol or periods of one hour. No change in appearance of properties was noted.

Fire Resistance:
Our uPVC guide posts have been tested for 2000 seconds (33 minutes), supported 60 mm below a 2000 watt red element. The product did not ignite, or show any trace of discolouration.

Flammability:

uPVC Profile - The benefits:
Stock posts are 1400 mm long x 3 mm, 4mm or 5 mm tick x 113 mm wide with other special location lengths to order. The uniquely strengthened concave design reduces wind generated aerofoil 'shimmy'. The recessed post profile seams adding protection to both delineators.

uPVC Life Expectancy
Examples of roadside installations in excess of 15 years, enjoying negligible maintenance factor. University of Melbourne (Department of Microbiology) test results indicate that this UV stabilised PVC formulation does not stimulate mould growth.

Weather Resistance:
Since May 1982 our uPVC guide post material formulation has been subjected to outdoor weathering tests at Allunga Exposure Laboratories, Townsville - with continuing satisfactory results (in accordance with A.S AK GK 24 part 1 - 1072).

Heat Resistance:
Our uPVC guide posts have been conditioned in an over for 2 hours at 82 degrees Celsius and have proven capable of straightening themselves within 30 seconds when bent 50 degrees through 4 bends. The tests were completed within 2 mins of removal from the oven.

Cold Resistance:
Our uPVC guide posts have been conditioned overnight in ambient conditions not exceeding 2 degrees, and have proven themselves capable  of straightening themselves instantly when bent 90 degrees through 4 bends. A steel ball weighing 1kg was dropped a distance of 1500mm, through a vertical frictionless guide to impact the surface of the uPVC guide post, which was in a horizontal position beneath the guide. The test was repeated 5 times and was concentrated near the centre of the post. The tests were conducted at a continuing post conditioned temperature of 1 degrees Celsius.

Ground Water Resistance:
Our uPVC guide posts are totally impervious to water regardless of ph value, or duration of immersion.

Vehicle Impact

• Dura-Post PVC guide posts were subject to 10 impacts head on into traffic, at speeds of 100kph and 5 impacts at an angle approx 75 degrees at 90kph. The post remained capable of self erecting and remained serviceable  after  these  tests.
